Mustard Seed Food Bank benefits for second year

Oak Bay boaters continue to boost the Mustard Seed Food Bank hot on the heels of an Oak Bay Marine Group donation of 1,900 pounds of food and goods.

Oak Bay Marine Group launched its Deck the Dock Cart Challenge for the second season last week. The competition pits the various marinas, including Oak Bay Marina, in a battle of food donations. Last year staff and customers rose to the occasion and filled numerous festively decorated dock carts with 655 pounds of goods for the Mustard Seed.

“It was a fun way to get people involved around the marinas,” said Brook Castelsky, chief operating officer. “This year we hope it grows to double or triple what we did last year, and we encourage everyone to stop by one of our marinas to give to this great cause.”

The second annual Deck the Dock Cart Challenge runs now through Dec. 20.  Drop items at Oak Bay Marina, North Saanich Marina, Pedder Bay Marina, or Ladysmith Marina.
