Comox artists Barbara and Buce Martin present Musings, a show of watercolour paintings at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox, from July 19 to Aug. 7.
Musings offers a range of representational and abstract works with a diverse subject matter from the West Coast to the Rocky Mountains, from florals to light on water, from rushing mountain waters to elegant roosters with attitude.
Barbara has revived her artistic expression during the last 10 years. She has spent many a spring and fall in Jasper plein air painting with a group of friends and wonderful water colourist and mentor Gregg Johnson.
In Nelson, B.C., Barbara was active in the West Kootenay Federation of Canadian Artists and is now a member of the Arrowsmith Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Over the past two years, she has been enjoying her new community in Comox, has been painting with the Brushworks group most Wednesdays and has been exploring the beautiful natural environment of Vancouver Island.
Bruce has a long painting history and his work has been widely shown.
Early in Bruce’s painting years, kind words of encouragement from Jack Shadbolt, and his work being selected for the BC Festival of Arts tour, as well as more recent awards of excellence from the Federation of Canadian Artists have all been supportive to the development of his art.
His work can be seen currently at Gallery 378, Nelson, B.C. and at the Art Gallery of Golden, Golden, B.C.
Barbara and Bruce will be in attendance for the opening of, Musings on Saturday, July 23 from noon to 3 p.m. They look forward to meeting with gallery visitors.
