Master class features virtuoso players

NANAIMO – International Guitar Night takes stage at Port Theatre.

International Guitar Night returns to the Port Theatre, featuring a new slate of virtuoso guitarists.

Concert series founder Brian Gore will be joined by Italy’s Pino Forastiere, with his classical, contemporary and rock background influencing his hard-to-define style. Forastiere  slaps, taps, strums, and alters tunings and harmonics to create a unique sound. Mike Dawes, from England, takes influence from Celtic, rock, world and popular music. Quique Sinesi, from Argentina, is a master of many South American melodies and rhythms on both guitar and charango.

Gore founded International Guitar Night in 1995 as a forum for the world’s finest guitarists and composers to play their latest original songs and share musical ideas with their peers in a public concert.

International Guitar Night hits the Port Theatre Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $45; $40/members; $15/students.

Prior to the show, the Port is hosting a master class with all four artists on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Cost for the master class is $20. To register, or for more information, please call 250-754-8550 or visit www.porttheatre.com.
