Matthew Good has announced that he will be embarking on a tour of Canada starting in January of 2019.
This is Good’s first solo run in Canada since his 2007 critically-acclaimed acoustic tour. The 35 date tour will see the prolific songwriter bring his inimitable solo acoustic performance from Campbell River to Ottawa and back with stops in Nelson, Red Deer, Camrose, Brampton to name a few.
In addition to this, Good will be continuing to sell his OK merchandise, from which all proceeds are being donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Good started 2018 with a tour of Canada with Our Lady Peace, where of Good’s co-headline performance Ottawa Life Magazine noted that he “he dowsed [the crowd] in kerosene and struck a match on a blazing set that included cuts from last year’s Something Like a Storm and choice cuts from the back catalogue.” This followed up on the release of Something Like a Storm, which debuted in the top 5.
Joining Good on this acoustic tour is special guest and rising Canadian star Poesy. Poesy is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new Canadian voices. Influenced by innovative enigmatic artists like Kate Bush and Freddie Mercury, as well as 90s alternative rock queens PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, and Alanis Morissette, the Toronto-based artist has formed a gritty and unmistakable sound that demands to be heard. Pairing inspiration from her favourite novels with vulnerable confessions from her own life, Poesy’s dark and powerful alt-rock rhythms makes it possible to dance and cry and wonder and hope all at once.
During her 2018 participation in CTV’s The Launch, Poesy collaborated with composer/producer Stephan Moccio (Miley Cyrus, Celine Dion, Avril Lavigne) to release the top 40 single Soldier of Love. The track drew comparisons to powerful rock front-women Amy Lee and Florence Welch and set the stage for Poesy to be a new alternative voice to watch. She signed a major label deal with Big Machine Label Group in May (2018). Following the national success of the single, POESY went on to give spellbinding performances at several Canadian music festivals.
