Chilliwack band Medevil is still basking in the afterglow of a provincial win on the heavy metal landscape.
As the band prepares to head to Toronto on June 6 for the final rounds of the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle Canada, they will first be playing a celebratory gig at the Echo Room night club on May 23.
It’s the first time local metal fans will get to see the band live.
Members of Medevil said they were stoked by the win, and now have their sights set on the ultimate prize of the global gathering, Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.
“We’ve never been so excited for something in our lives, but we hope this will not be the end of it,” said Medevil front man Liam Collingwood.
Medevil was formed in 2011 by Liam Collingwood (vocals), Eric Wesa (bass) and Ross Collingwood (drums), and guitarists Gary Cordsen and Brett Gibbs.
Next up is the nationals in Toronto and then hopefully the worlds.
Medevil performs live Saturday, May 23 at 9 p.m. at the Echo Room with special guests, My Own Chaos and Obsidian. Show is 19+ doors at 9 p.m. $10
