Curtis Wilson - Artist

Meet aspiring young artist and author

Meet artist Curtis Wilson at the Campbell River Art Gallery.

Wilson will be on hand at the Artisan Market to share his passion for art and for his Kwakwaka’wakw culture.

Wilson is an emerging artist who has created a colouring book featuring his art and the Liqwala/Kwakwaka’wakw language. The Ba’buk’Sila’tsu colouring book has been providing people of all ages the opportunity to get creative with Wilson’s designs.

“My main target for these books was originally children, but I quickly found out that colouring books are not just for children, adults are really embracing colouring books as well,” Wilson said.

“I am truly excited about providing an educational tool.”

He said people who have purchased the colouring book have been sharing their results.

“One thing I am really excited about is the interpretations of the different designs,” Wilson said.

“Owners of the books have started sharing their coloured designs and I am enjoying seeing their renditions.”

The Artisan Market, sponsored by Chan, Nowosad and Boates, Chartered Accountants, is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Dec. 24.

The Market features the work of dozens of artisans from Campbell River, Quadra Island, Cortes Island and other communities in the region. Wilson will be at the gallery Saturday, Dec. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.
