Opening Night Theatre Society will travel to Port Alberni to perform play Age of Arousal

Mission’s Opening Nite Theatre Society’s cast and crew of their recent production Age of Arousal are travelling to Port Alberni to compete against the best of B.C.’s community theatres.

Although ONTS didn’t win best play for the Fraser Valley in Theatre B.C.’s May 2019 zone festival, the group won a wildcard draw. This means they will be performing Age of Arousal at Theatre BC’s Mainstage Festival, running July 5-13 in Port Alberni.

This annual event gives theatre groups from across the province the opportunity for friendly competition and the chance to gain more acting, technical and production skills through workshops and having their plays evaluated by a professional theatre adjudicator.

To help fund transportation expenses to the festival, Opening Nite Theatre is presenting two additional performances of Age of Arousal – written by Canadian Linda Griffiths – on June 21 and June 28 at 8 p.m.

Don’t miss your final chance to enjoy this powerful, not-quite-a-period piece about five women and one man who find out what it means to be feminist and gender benders in Victorian London.

Tickets for the two Age of Arousal performances are “pay what you can ” – a minimum $10 per ticket, cash only.

Ticket reservations may be made by calling 604-826-6687 or by emailing ontstickets@hotmail.com.

You can also pay at the theatre door at 33223 Railway Ave. (across from Mission West Coast Express), up to 15 minutes before curtain.

Age of Arousal contains strong adult themes and language and is not suitable for children.
