On Thursday August 18, 2011, as the sun goes down, Interior Savings Credit Union and the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre (NTVIC) will be lighting up Fadear Park (Barriere Bandshell) with a giant inflatable movie screen and fun activities for the family.
Similar to the classic drive-in experience, just without the cars or the concrete, the community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars. There is no charge to attend the event, but a donation of $3 per person is encouraged with all proceeds benefiting the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre.
“We strive to offer programs that will benefit all members of the community,” says Kathy Dunn Program Administrator of NTVIC. “The Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Night is a unique event for our community that will help us raise funds to continue our current programs as well as develop new ones as the need arises.
As part of a commitment to building healthy communities, Interior Savings’ Moonlight Movie Tour will touch down in 14 interior B.C. communities and will feature three individual movie nights in both Kamloops and Kelowna.
“With the Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Tour, we are able to provide a high quality plug-and-play event to non-profit groups throughout our service area,” says Gene Creelman, Interior Savings’ VP of Marketing and Communications. “We’ve partnered with organizations in our community who are making a lasting impact in the lives of young people by helping them develop leadership and life skills. We provide the movie, the screen and the sound system and our community partners create an event to raise funds and generate awareness about their services.”
On Thursday August 18, enjoy a unique cinema experience under the stars at Fadear Park and support the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic blankets; there will be a concession, face painting and games for the kids starting at 6pm; show starts at dusk. We’re showing a family favorite: RIO.
