There is a new band in the Comox Valley and they have a single mission: to bring country music to the people.
K.C. and the Moonshine Band is the latest offering to the Valley’s growing musical community. Band leader and namesake K.C. Hingley formed the group this year after noticing there weren’t many local groups playing the country music he wanted to hear.
“There are a couple of bands around playing the real classic country from the ’60s and earlier, and a couple playing the new stuff, but no one was playing all those great tunes from the ’80s, ’90s and early ’00s that I wanted to focus on,” he noted.
So far the response has been tremendous and the band has played several successful shows. Moving forward, the band hopes to extend their reach all around Vancouver Island and hopefully book some of the larger festivals that cater to country music fans.
On Dec. 7, they bring their show to the Mex Pub for the first time and anticipate a lively dance floor. The band’s four members are all veterans and regular contributors to the Valley’s live music scene with Hingley on lead vocals and guitar, Mike Berman on drums, Britt Hibbert on lead guitar and Bruce Jacobs on bass.
