All the wall is a stage – according to White Rock Players Club president Dave Baron, who said the club is currently raising funds to turn a blank wall on the side of the Coast Capital Playhouse into a mural depicting personalities who have loomed large in the history of the club.
The planned mural, which will be painted by renowned local artist and muralist Elizabeth Hollick, was the result of a call for proposals from the club last year.
Hollick’s concept was chosen because of its resonance with Players Club board members, Baron said.
“It perfectly captures the excitement, fun and personalities of the club’s 68-year history as White Rock’s own community theatre,” he said.
“Characters such as Franklin Johnson, Scott Wheeler and many more will be featured.”
The aim is to complete the mural by summer, fundraising permitting.
All donations of more than $10 will receive a receipt for income tax purposes, while those who donate more than $500 will be recognized on the club’s ‘wall of fame’ in the lobby.
And Baron has an added enticement for those who want to show their community spirit by becoming, quite literally, part of the mural.
“Donations over $10,000 will also be recognized by the inclusion of donor faces or names in the mural itself,” he said.
