Music by the River to benefit Transition House

The second annual Music by the Campbell River is coming Saturday

The first Music By The River Festival was held June 20, 2010.

Great local musicians entertained the crowd while the children ran and played with the Kids Krowd.

The weather was great, the music was soothing and the company delightful. And it’s all going to happen again soon.

The  second annual Music by the Campbell River is coming Saturday, brought to you by the Campbell River Transition Society, 97.3 The Eagle and the All In One Party Shop. On June 18 from 1-10 p.m. local musicians will entertain by the shores of the Campbell River at the historic Haig-Brown Property at 2250 Campbell River Road.

Musicians including Eric Benson and White Horse, Cat and the B-Sides, Wayne Lemke, The Impalas, Helen Austin and many more will volunteer their time to support the Transition Society. For a complete list of performers go to the Transition Society website -www.annelmorehouse.ca.

As well as music there will be plenty of good deals at the silent auction, fun for the kids in a supervised play area, belly dancers, concession and raffles.

The idea is to  create Campbell River’s own Music Festival to showcase some of our very talented local musicians all the while raising funds to support the operations of the Campbell River & North Island Transition Society. The Transition Society operates Ann Elmore House, a shelter for women and children fleeing abuse or violence. Every year over 250 women and children stay at Ann Elmore House.

Ann Elmore House is named after Ann (Elmore) Haig-Brown who lived at the Festival site from 1936 until her death in 1990. While raising her family, caring for the farm, and typing Roderick’s manuscripts, Ann was also involved on many committees and volunteer activities. Somehow Ann also found time to house women in need.

Mark the day in your calendar and plan to attend.

Tickets are available at The Music Plant, Sundance Java Bar and the Transition Society – $25 for adults, $10 for teens (15-19) and children enter for free.
