Musical fundraiser brings in over $1,000 for Team Willow

Last Saturday night people gathered at Voodoo Lounge to Rock for a Reason.

Entry was by donation, and all proceeds went to the Team Willow fundraiser. By the time the last band left the stage around $1,000 was raised.

WestJet also donated two round trip tickets to anywhere WestJet flies that were raffled off at the event for $10 an entry.

The Bentwood Boyz opened the evening with some classic rock covers.

Quadra Sound took to the stage around 9:30 p.m. and got the crowd dancing with their mix of classic rock covers, including The Sheepdogs, and originals.

Their high energy set had a strong baseline, some quick drum beats, powerful vocals and lots of hair flips.

At 11 months old Willow underwent brain surgery to remove to cancerous tumours, despite the surgery the cancer continued to advance. Her family had to move to Vancouver for six months for Willow to undergo intensive therapy at the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

Since then local businesses, sports teams and individuals have been raising and donating money to support Willow and her family.
