Musician Allan MacKinnon is bringing his live guitar show to the Fort Gallery on Thursday, Aug. 3.
The event is part of the gallery’s “First Thursday” initiative, where on the first Thursday of each month they host a variety of local visual artists, writers, poets and musicians.
MacKinnon has kept a life-long interest in playing guitar live. He particularly enjoys improvisational work and often mixes light jazz and blues together in a soft rock and easy listening style.
Also featured at the event are many of the artists from the gallery’s annual juried show, ic(o!)nic Canada. This year’s theme celebrates Canada’s 150th birthday and the notion of national identity. That show runs until Aug. 6.
The Fort Gallery is located at 9048 Glover Rd. Regular hours are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
