Nanaimo Ceramic Arts marks first anniversary with open house

Event includes demonstrations, mini-workshops and refreshments

One year ago Bronwyn Arundel opened her Nanaimo Ceramic Arts studio with a tea party, and she’s celebrating its first birthday the same way.

On Sunday, May 26, Arundel is marking her studio’s first anniversary with an open house event featuring demonstrations, mini-workshops and tea and cake.

Arundel said “there’s no way that I could have done it on my own,” and gives credit to the studio’s instructors.

“[They] have put a huge amount of themselves into it and go above and beyond…” she said. “That’s a big part of it, that generosity of spirit and thoughtfulness and time and creativity.”

The studio’s membership will be showing work in the gallery. Arundel said she’s proud of the community of artists that has developed at the studio.

“The community that has gathered here is really exceptional and really has nothing to do with my hard work and all to do with their hard work,” she said. “So that’s so beautiful to see so definitely we’re celebrating that.”

WHAT’S ON … Nanaimo Ceramic Arts, 1-140 Wallace St., open house on Sunday, May 26 from 1 to 5 p.m.
