Nanaimo Concert Band presents Holiday Traditions a show with donations of non-perishable food items going to the Salvation Army.

Nanaimo’s award-winning concert band is celebrating the holidays with music and helping local charities during its concert Holiday Traditions.

The Nanaimo Concert Band presents its Christmas concert on Sunday (Dec. 11) at 2:30 p.m. at Beban Park’s auditorium.

Concert band members have put their own stamp on classical holiday songs and Christmas carols for audience members to enjoy.

“To see the smiles in the audience and the joy on their faces makes it all worthwhile,” said Shari Barker, a member of the Nanaimo Concert Band, in a press release. “Not only is the concert for the audience enjoyment, but it has become a part of my Christmas. There are only so many Christmas songs to play and I know some people think that they heard it all but I am proud to say that we always put on a good show.”

During intermission, band members will come out and meet the audience.

Admission is by donation of a non-perishable food donation, which goes to the Salvation Army.
