Nathan Senner is a local musician well known for his poignant songs about life and the human condition.

He is the guest performer at the next 1st Tuesday Fundraiser Aug. 1 at the Mex Pub. His chosen charity to support is the BC Alzheimers Society of B.C. Admission is by donation, and food donations for the food bank are also welcome.

This monthly concert series is sponsored by the Mex Pub and pairs local musicians with the charities and non-profit groups that are near and dear to them. Nathan’s father, who has been influential in Nathan’s interest in music, is experiencing advanced stages of dementia.

Senner has been writing for more than 25 years, has produced and recorded an original CD “Dance in the Moon,” and is currently in the studio at work on his second.

With a style that has been compared to James Taylor, Marc Cohn, and the late Jim Croce, Senner is a welcomed performer at local music venues, community events and festivals including Vancouver Island Musicfest, and the Island Folk Festival in Duncan. He is a respected songwriter, three-time finalist in the Cowichan Folk guild songwriting competition, and he was nominated for both ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Vocalist of the Year’ at the Vancouver Island Music Awards.

Senner’s music is thoughtful and bittersweet and the sincerity of his vocals and sensitive delivery make his music especially meaningful to hear.

The evening starts at 7:30 p.m. with opening sets by the Snow Monkeez (violinist Blaine Dunaway, keyboardist Steve Ruskin, and guitarist Bruce Wing), who will also be joining Senner on a few of his songs.
