Erika Bernard had the opportunity of a lifetime recently as she was one of four girls from B.C. to be accepted to the National Ballet School of Canada for a month.
The 11-year-old native of Maple Ridge spent four weeks in Toronto, studying and performing with other young dancers from around the country.
Last year, Bernard was one of the youngest students accepted into the NBS summer program at just 10-years-old.
Bernard currently trains at the danceLAB Studios Ltd. located in Coquitlam.
“We are incredibly proud of [her] for the dedication and commitment to dance training,” Kirsten Sjoman, co-artistic director of danceLAB, said. “While most dancers break for the summer, she puts on her ballet tights and ballet shoes all [summer], dancing four to five classes a day, six days a week.”
Up next for Bernard is a dance performance for the showdown at the fair at PNE.
