They’ve been acquaintances, associated by their artistic talents, for years, and now Armstrong neighbours Jamie Frazer and Frances Hatfield are pooling their talents –– and treasures.
The women are hosting an art show and sale they are calling Yart, as it takes place in their respective yards, Sunday, Aug. 28.
Formerly based in Enderby, Frazer moved to Armstrong more than a year ago, moving down the street from Hatfield.
“It was a happy coincidence,” said Frazer, who paints impressionist-style acrylics on canvasses from walls and signs to windows and furniture.
Also an instructor, who has conducted classes at her studio, Frazer will have painted furniture, functional art pieces, paintings, art cards and more on display and for sale in her garden and studio.
A respected Okanagan artist, whose work can be seen in galleries and on murals from Penticton and Naramata on up to Enderby, Hatfield recently uncovered a hidden treasure trove of pottery in her home, which she believes is 40 years old.
The recipient of the 2011 Okanagan Arts Award in visual arts, Hatfield will show some of the pottery and her recent paintings.
“We welcome all to amble with friends down a grass alleyway joining the flowery yards of both our studios,” said Frazer.
The event will take place Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3025 Jarvis St., Armstrong. Signs will be up pointing visitors to the adjoining studio. The show takes place rain or shine, and refreshments will be served.
