Nelson’s Charlie PS shortlisted for CBC award

Voting ends Tuesday for the prize

Nelson native Charlie PS is one of 100 artists shortlisted for the annual CBC Searchlight prize.

Charlie PS’s song “Little Miss Dysfunctional,” from her debut EP of the same name released last year, can be voted on once per day at cbcmusicsearchlight.ca. Voting ends Tuesday, after which a panel of judges will pick one out of 10 remaining musicians to be revealed March 7.

The winner of the prize receives a week of studio time in Calgary, inclusion into the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class for developing artists, and exposure on CBC Radio.

Charlie Pears-Smith graduated from L.V. Rogers in 2012 and two years later from Selkirk College’s music program. She was also named the Kootenays’ Best Singer in 2013.
