New First Nations mural

Students at Margaret Stenersen Elementary will be greeted by a new mural as classes resume.

Students at Margaret Stenersen Elementary will be greeted by a new mural as classes resume. Jay Havens, a local First Nations artist, painted a scene showing the passing down of knowledge – a fisherman teaching his craft to two youngsters on the Fraser River. The lower portion of the painting is filled with salmon, and is bordered on both sides by blue herons. When it is finished, the sky will be filled with stars, each with four dots, representing the directions of the Sto:lo medicine wheel.
