The lobby lounge at Surrey’s largest hotel has been rebranded and now features live entertainment.
The Fresh Restaurant and Lounge is no more at Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel, following Thursday night’s opening of MIXT Lobby Lounge at the 104th Avenue property.
“It’s official! Say goodbye to Fresh and hello to MIXT Lobby Lounge, the home of West Coast culture!” raved MIXT’s Facebo0k page in a post on Wednesday. “Characterized by distinct cultural flavours and locally sourced ingredients, MIXT celebrates community and shares what it means to be a West Coaster with the world. Our grand opening is tomorrow!”
The mixtlounge.com website promises weekly entertainment, among other things.
“The MIXT experience doesn’t end with food — we believe in creating a dining experience that captures all of your senses,” the website says. “So while you take in the exotic scents wafting out of our doors, the beautiful decor around you, and the exquisite taste of locally-sourced ingredients, you’ll also enjoy the perfect balance of classic and trendy ambient music performed by live artists—on special nights of course.”
On Thursday evening, Surrey-based musician Sami Ghawi posted to Facebook a photo of guitars and mic stands in the new-look hotel lounge.
