New York Times best selling author comes to Langley

Steena Holmes will promote her newest novel at Coles in Willowbrook mall June 19

New York Times and USA Today best selling author Steena Holmes is coming to Langley for a book signing.

On Tuesday, June 19 from 1 to 4 p.m., Holmes will be promoting her newest novel, The Forgotten Ones, at Coles bookstore in Willowbrook Shopping Centre, 19705 Fraser Hwy, as part of a national book tour.

The Forgotten Ones, Holmes’ 31st published novel, follows main character, Elle, as she uncovers her family’s dark secrets.

It is a personal novel for Holmes, as her daughter has battled mental health issues and suicidal tendencies for the past three years.

Through counseling and support, her daughter and the overall family are in a much better place, and they want to help those who may be suffering with the same affliction. The family has made the decision to speak out about suicide prevention, tell their story, and help where they can if given the opportunity.

To that end, Holmes is donating 50 per cent of the print royalties from The Forgotten Ones to the LifeLine Canada Foundation for one year. This B.C. organization promotes positive mental health and suicide prevention worldwide.

“For Steena, the success of her newest novel specifically is not about awards, best-seller status, or sales,” a press release states.

“The whole point of doing this is to provide focus to mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and being an accomplished author, Steena sees this as truly the best way she can get the message out.”

Holmes, a Calgary-based author, has sold close to 2 million novels worldwide and was named one of the Top 20 women authors to read in 2015 by Good Housekeeping. She reached the No. 1 best seller list on Amazon, and won the 2012 Indie Excellence Award.
