The lady they call the Queen of Loops will be treating the audience to her unique performance at Jita’s Cafe on Aug. 15.
Mihirangi creates her own band sound live in front of her audience, utilizing a loop pedal. The key to her music is the layering of her vocal sounds.
From the foundation of earth-shaking bass lines to intricately layered harmonies, rhythmic “ska” chops, sensuous jazzy riffs and beat boxing – it’s all done with the power of her voice, an incredible vocal range and an exceptional talent for timing, rhythm and dynamic tonality.
Singing in both Te Reo Maori and English, a multi-instrumentalist, Mihirangi also plays percussion, keyboards, guitar and Tonga Puoro (traditional Maori instruments).
Once you experience Mihirangi’s empowering live loop show, you’ll be hooked into her organic earthy vice and captivated by her stunning vocal performance. It’s easy to see why they call her The Queen of Loops.
She has had an expansive journey, having toured for seven years, five times around the globe, and performing at more than 50 international festivals. In 2012 Mihirangi was a finalist in New Zealand’s Got Talent, wowing the judges and the country with her incredible skills.
With her utterly unique musical vision and the cross-cultural harmony Mihirangi is an artist that has people sitting up, listening and taking notice for all the right reasons.
The show starts at 7 p.m., tickets are available for $25 at Jita’s and at Bizarre Entertainment.
