The call for nominations has gone out for the seventh annual Okanagan Arts Awards.
The celebration, organized by the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan, recognizes artists in many disciplines for outstanding achievement.
Nominations are open to anyone residing from Kamloops to the Nicola Valley, Princeton to Osoyoos, and Osoyoos through to Revelstoke.
“The arts awards serve to underline the importance of the arts in our communities, and to recognize individuals and groups for their significant contributions and for their exceptional support of arts and culture in B.C.’s Central Interior,” reads a press release from the council.
Two new categories have been added to the roster this year, including culinary arts and a youth award. Other categories include the Central Okanagan Foundation Community Arts Association Award (to an arts organization), arts educator, dance, design, literary arts, media arts, music, supporter of the arts, theatre, visual arts and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is based on overall contributions to the arts and is not nominated.
Deadline for nominations is Jan. 31, with the awards presentation March 22. Visit the Okanagan Arts Awards website at www.artsco.ca for more info.
