With a tagline like “Nothing beats fun like having a good time” Burton will be abuzz with activities as it hosts Burton City Daze on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept.7.
The festivities commence at 4 p.m. at the Burton Campgrounds on Friday with a full concession including burgers, smokies and vegetarian chili.
A horseshoes tournament will also begin on Friday evening at 5 p.m. The popular beer gardens will be open at 5 p.m. and will run til 11 p.m. In addition to the beer gardens there will also be karaoke hosted by Burton’s own, Johnni Bassboat.
On Saturday the activities get kicked into overdrive all beginning with the Pancake Breakfast at 8 a.m. The pancake breakfast will provide the necessary fuel for the participants in the Amazing Relay Race. The race will begin at 9:30 a.m. having each competing team complete a 600m canoe ride, 6.5 km bike ride finishing off with a 2.5 km run.
From 9 a.m.-2 p.m. there will be the Burton Farmer’s Market in conjunction with the Burton Fall Fair (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) at the Community Hall where a Harvest Lunch will be served. A vineyard tour will take place at 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Arrow Lakes Research Plot.
Festivities will continue all day Saturday down at the Burton Campgrounds as the Horseshoe Tourney playoffs begin at 2 p.m., while the concession will host a Greek theme serving chicken souvlaki, tzatziki and salad. The good times will run well into the night as the Beer Gardens will open at 3 p.m. including Karoake and will continue until 11 p.m.
