Odeum Theatre looking for talent

Spamalot will play the ACT in August. Musicians, dancers and actors needed.

Odeum Theatre looking for talent

Odeum Theatre is on the hunt for talent to star in Monty Python’s Spamalot.

The musical comedy is “lovingly ripped off from” the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend.

The Odeum Theatre Society, a local non-profit, has been staging musicals in Maple Ridge for the past three years.

This year, Odeum is taking it to the next level by combining dance, orchestra and a high-profile production, says artistic director Rayne Beveridge.

Odeum is looking for musicians, dancers and actors for Spamalot, which will play at the ACT Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.

To be cast in the production, musicians, actors and dancers must participate in workshops.

The music and theatre workshops run Aug. 10-25 and cost $300 (ages 12-18).  The dance workshop runs Aug. 10-19 and costs $150 (ages 12-18). The free orchestra workshop will run from July 3- Aug. 25 and is open to all ages.

There are only 35 spaces in the music workshop, 15 in the dance workshop and 25 in the orchestra workshop. Workshops are filling up so sign up soon. Registration is open until June 1.
