The Pearl Ellis Art Gallery is pleased to feature a solo exhibition by local artist Margery Blom from Aug. 28 to Sept. 15.
Portraying the incredible beauty of Vancouver Island, this dynamic collection will take viewers on a journey from the majestic mountains, through the enchantment of the forests, the hidden inland waters, the secrets of the flora, to the serenity of the sea.
Blom is inspired by the magic of nature and paints to recreate what she sees with brilliant light and vivid, bold, bright colour. She chooses to create with oil paint because of its richness, vibrancy and flexibility.
An opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by Blom’s sister, Rita Blom, performing on an instrument called the chapman stick.
The Pearl Ellis Gallery is located at 1729 Comox Avenue in Comox. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sunday/Monday. Free admission.
