Parkside’s Christmas Bazaar offers artwork

Gallery welcomes art enthusiasts along with shoppers enjoy the display

Parkside Art Gallery’s Ninth Annual Christmas Bazaar is underway and displaying the winsome work of artists and artisan members from across the South Cariboo and

beyond.

Parkside volunteer Kathy Crawshay, a local watercolour artist, says the gallery is “full of art” with the display and sale having opened on Nov. 18, and running until

Dec. 22.

As always, admission is free. Crawshay encourages everyone to visit, view and enjoy the display, whether you turn out to browse around and view the works, you plan to Christmas shop, or to purchase new art for your own home.

The great variety of treasures on display range from the popular turned-wood bowls of artisan Ted Peterson and the well-known photographs of Chris Harris to the newer artisans in the bazaar such as First Nations handcrafted traditional moccasins and clothing of Ruth Johnnie.

Painting in various mediums from Western art to wildlife will be featured alongside pottery, wood and jewelry; paintings and hand-painted Christmas art cards (including Crawshay’s); fibre-art in hats, gloves, mittens, and felted handbags – and much, much

more.

Other local artists featured broadly in the art bazaar include Tom Godin, Susan Kruse, Neil Pinkett, and many others who art followers in the community will recognize from past years’ shows and bazaars.

Newly featured in this year’s Christmas bazaar are South Cariboo-based artists Connie Hillard, Kathie Flahr, Helen Kellington, Bobbie Crane and Sheryl Fremlin.

Crawshay invites the public to come in to the show and sale whether or not you intend to shop.

She notes Parkside is a gallery – where having a gander at the display is always okay.

Parkside Art Gallery is located at 401 Cedar Ave. in 100 Mile House.
