Surrey-based SOS Children’s Village BC will again benefit from activities and events at Grouse Mountain’s annual Peak of Christmas attraction.
The Gingerbread Village in the Peak Chalet is done in support of the charity, which operates five houses in a Surrey neighbourhood that offer foster children a chance to feel part of a real family.
Guests at a gala dinner Thursday (Nov. 26) were first to see the gingerbread creations.
At Santa’s Workshop, proceeds from the by-donation visits also benefit SOS Children’s Village BC.
At the Gingerbread Village, guests are encouraged to vote for their favourite creation to select a grand-prize winner while contributing funds to the charitable organization.
Over the years, the SOS Children’s Holiday gala and related festivities have raised $530,000 for the charity’s therapy, counselling, educational and transition-to-adulthood programs.
The Peak of Christmas officially kicked off today (Nov. 27), turning Grouse Mountain into a magical winter wonderland.
New this winter is a “Light Walk” around Blue Grouse Lake.
Also, Grouse Mountain’s 8,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating pond is surrounded by trees and adorned with glimmering lights. There are mountaintop sleigh rides and a new multi-lane groomed Sliding Zone.
The mountain’s Breakfast with Santa program runs from Dec. 12 to 24. Back for another season, The Observatory’s Christmas Lunch also returns on weekdays from Dec. 7 to 24.
All Peak of Christmas activities are complimentary with a season’s pass, a Skyride admission ticket or at a special family rate of $79.95. For more details, click here.
