The Penticton branch of the Okanagan Symphony Society is presenting a seasonal fundraising concert, Summer Arias and More, featuring the voice of Penticton soprano Lauren Liddicoat accompanied by pianist Roslyn Frantz.
Liddicoat will be singing some of the most beloved soprano arias of the operatic repertoire plus other surprises.
As a young performer in Penticton, Liddicoat was featured in many Viva Musica productions and won many top awards from both local and international music competitions.
After graduating from Penticton Secondary School, Liddicoat went to New York City where she completed her bachelor’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music in voice performance -— studying for four years with Patricia Misslin, who also mentored world-renowned soprano Renee Fleming.
Later, Liddicoat sought out the highly celebrated voice teacher, Laura Brooks Rice, so and was accepted at Westminster College in Princeton, New Jersey, to complete her masters degree. She has just completed her first year of her masters program, working toward a degree in vocal performance and pedagogy with a performance emphasis.
This summer Liddicoat was accepted at a comprehensive program of voice that has her training with the top opera coaches from the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, the San Francisco Opera and the Santa Fe Opera.
The recital takes place Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, 1498 Government St. Tickets are $15 and are available at Hartford Cruise and Travel, Leir House and the Dragon’s Den or at the door.
