Peoples Choice Award chosen at Pearl Ellis

The winner of the Pearl Ellis Gallery’s Peoples Choice Award for the summer of 2012 is Tulamee Bridge a painting by Saskia King.

The ballots have been counted!

The winner of the Pearl Ellis Gallery’s Peoples Choice Award for the summer of 2012 is Tulamee Bridge a painting by Saskia King.  It will be on display this Sunday at 8 p.m. at the gallery along with all the other members’ works of art.

Saskia receives a plaque donated by Bob and Sheila Pollock to commemorate the event and a $1000 gift certificate donated by Whyte’s Framing on Lazo Road in Comox.

The four runners-up are Myshree Tsai’s needle painting Duck, Sharon Lennox’s painting Travelling Pair, Evelyn M.’s painting Dawn of the Inukshuk and Bev Johnston’s painting Carnegie Hall.

In addition to the winners of the People’s Choice Show, visitors will see the newly completed artists’ patio in the front of the gallery.  Watch for announcements as members of the gallery take turns demonstrating their painting techniques throughout the summer.  Kicking off this new summer event this Saturday is Brian Buckrell, painting on the patio from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m.

Other local artists who will appear during the first two weeks are Jock MacNeil, Ruth Dickson, Betty Boyle, Sonia Hauser, Jill Paris Rody, April Dyck, Pamela Page, Ruby Hettervig and Hans Larsen.

The Pearl Ellis Gallery is located at 1729 Comox Ave. Admission is free, and the gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. It’s closed Monday.
