The Showcase Art Gallery, in 100 Mile House, is featuring People’s Choice paintings from the Cariboo Artists’ Guild’s 38th Annual Show & Sale.
Viewers were given the opportunity to vote for their favourite pieces from the show and sale’s theme: Reflection.
First place went to Neil Pinkett for his painting of Davis Lake as seen from the cabin where he lives.
“For me, the interesting thing with our annual theme in the CAG summer show is seeing how all the different artists approach it, and this year we had lots of varied and thought-provoking interpretations of the theme,” Pinkett said in an email.

“I am touched that so many people resonated with my painting. Reflections on water are a central theme of my work. I find it a rich source of inspiration, and living by a lake for the first time this summer has provided plenty of material that I expect will crop up in my work over this coming winter.”
Bobbie Crane and Helen Kellington won second and third place respectively.
Kellington said she was “thrilled and surprised” about placing third in what she called “a very competitive field of artists.”
“My paintings aren’t readily understood and do require some studying so the result for me is gratifying.”
Kathy Crawshay and Cindy Wickingstad tied for the fourth place honourable mention.
All five paintings are up and can be viewed for the remainder of September in the gallery, located in the lobby of the South Cariboo Business Centre.
