Peter Pan will literally be soaring through Chilliwack.
Heritage Christian Online School’s Lighthouse Theatre invites you to journey “where dreams are born and time is never planned” as they present Peter Pan, Broadway’s timeless musical.
Audiences will be drawn into a magical adventure proving anything can happen with a sprinkling of pixie dust. Just follow the second star to the right and straight on till morning with Peter Pan, the Darling children and a mischievous Tinker Bell fairy. Meet the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her warriors as well as the villainous Captain Hook and a band of misfit pirates.
This musical soars to new heights with the use of “Aereography” and the theatrical flying effects provided by Flying By Foy. Seven characters will be flying in the show.
There have been appropriate amendments made to the original Peter Pan script to both honour and respect the Indigenous community.
The show is at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from May 23 to 29.
Lighthouse Theatre consists of a dynamic group of 63 performers ranging from Grades 2 to 12. The cast of Peter Pan features 14 students from Chilliwack.
The directors and actors are committed to a high standard of excellence from acting and singing to the choreographed routines. Dazzling costumes and impressive set designs also add to draw the audience into the magical world of Peter Pan.
This year, the theatre company moved to the Chilliwack HUB International Theatre to accommodate its growing audiences, large casts and creatively made props.
“Simply put, we have fallen in love with the city, after performing our last two productions at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre [Beauty and the Beast in 2017 and Cinderella in 2018]. There is a unique art and culture mindset among the people of Chilliwack, along with a warm hospitality which first welcomed us in 2017 and continues to make us feel at home,” says executive producer Allana Lemke.
Tickets to Peter Pan are $22/adult and $16/child or senior. To purchase tickets, go to theatre.onlineschool.ca.
