Rootsy singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shane Philip brings his didgeridoo and more to the Errington Hall Friday, April 27.
He will be performing at the event with special guest Galen Mongeau on drums. The concert will also include an opening act by Parksville duo Lemon Tree, and dance performers Taiya Curle, Jamie Black and Friends.
Philip, has been nominated for three Vancouver Island Music Awards — Best Live Act, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Philip is known for his dynamic didgeridoo-infused music.
Swelling in primordial pulses and wholloping whoops, the tacit tones of Philip’s didgeridoo hold the power to still listeners into silence or encourage audiences to rise up in a tribal swell of intoxicating spirit.
He is a one-man show weaving sounds that inspire audiences anywhere he goes.
Lemon Tree Sisters Chloe and Sydney Elston from Parksville have been performing at local venues for the past two years.
Sydney gets the inspiration for her songs from the beauty of nature of Vancouver Island, and Chloe puts those words to music. The two pair their love of music to create an acoustic sound that will move their listeners from heartfelt emotion to dancing and singing along to the latest country and pop music.
Taiya Curle, who started her belly dance career in Parksville in 1991, has been traveling internationally teaching workshops and performing since 1999. She recently returned from performing in New York, Thailand and India. A true Gypsy woman, she brings many styles of dance into a fusion of her own.
Jamie Black is a community-minded performer who engages and encourages community members to be a part of the show. She has been teaching Latin dance for over 10 years, and is now branching out into other shows such as Vaudeville, and choreographed fusion dance pieces for local performers.
