The Nanaimo International Jazz Festival is taking place in Nanaimo with performances at numerous venues in town.

The festival began with a free concert at Diana Krall Plaza last night, with the New Orleans Second Line street parade this morning and a headlining concert with the Charles Mingus Dynasty Quintet at the Port Theatre tonight, Sept. 22.

“We have B.C. musicians from Vancouver Island,” said Andrew Homzy, jazz festival association president. “We have 90 musicians that are going to be participating in the festival this year.”
