Petite performer, Little Miss Higgins, brings her country blues trio to Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge on Jan. 19.

Little Miss Higgins’ performances always sell out, said Emmanuel Asprakis, who owns Bozzini’s.

“She’s such a great performer we are very happy to have her back for two shows.”

From the Great Northern Plains of Western Canada, Little Miss Higgins struts and serenades her way, guitar in hand, lips blazoned red, onto any stage.

And while she may be small, Little Miss Higgins is mighty: this pocket-sized powerhouse plays music brewed up in old-time country blues, sprinkled with a little jazz and a hint of folk.

Whether she’s singing songs about buying bargain shop panties in small towns on tour, or plaintive and passionate love songs, she has a relatable knack for writing about real things. Her tunes are rooted in the truth, both practical and universal, and presented in a poetic and wonderful way.

Born in Brooks, Alberta, raised in Independence, Kansas, and now living in Winnipeg via a long stay in small town Saskatchewan, she brings her notable voice, acute observations and a wry humour to all she lives and sings about.

Nominated for JUNO and Maple Blues Awards, Little Miss Higgins is an award-winning musician and recipient of the Favourite Blues Artist of the Year at the eighth annual Indies Awards.

Little Miss Higgins and her band take to the Upstairs Lounge stage on Saturday, Jan. 19. Showtimes are 6 and 9:30 p.m. and doors open 90 minutes prior. Tickets are $20, and are available for purchase at Bozzini’s, or they can be reserved by calling 604-792-0744.
