The Vernon Film Society is pleased to present Take This Waltz, showing at the Towne Cinema on Monday.

Following the tremendous success of her directorial debut in Away From Her, Sarah Polley returns with her moving and highly personal film Take This Waltz.

The film is a beautiful and poignant take on a young woman’s struggle to find happiness.

Twenty eight-year-old Margot (Michelle Williams) is happily married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a good-natured cookbook author.  But when Margot meets Daniel (Luke Kirby), their mutual attraction is obvious and immediate.

To make matters worse, Daniel lives across the street.

Unable to resist, the couple begins to spend time together, attempting to restrain themselves from doing things they might regret. Torn between her love for her husband and lust for this passionate new neighbour, Margot finds herself at a crossroads as she struggles to choose between two different kinds of love.

There are no easy answers, no heroes and no villains.

Funny, bittersweet, and heart-wrenching, Take This Waltz is a moving journey of love, passion, and regret that is grounded in a struggle familiar to many of us and will speak to anyone who has ever questioned the value of long-term relationships.

Take This Waltz is an impressively astute, touching, and hilarious movie about the actual relationships and internal struggles that never seem to make it onto film,” said Robert Bell, with Exclaim magazine.

Take This Waltz will be shown at the Towne Cinema Monday, Aug. 20 at 5:45 and 7:45 p.m. (Note time change.) Tickets are available at the door, and one week ahead at the theatre and the Bean Scene for $7.
