Everyone is welcome at the Campbell River Art Gallery on Wednesday, May 17 for an event featuring renowned poet Jan Zwicky.
An award-winning Canadian philosopher, poet, essayist and musician, Quadra Island resident Zwicky will be reading from Vittoria Colonna, a collection of 10 Renaissance Italian poems, accompanied by contemporary English versions, with photographs by Victoria photographer Robert Moody. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the reading will be at 7 p.m.
Zwicky’s reading will complement the exhibition, with bread, by Vancouver-based Turkish artist Derya Akay, on its closing night. The Exhibition Sponsor for with bread is Campbell River’s Flooring Canada (www.flooringcanadacampbellriver.com). SAHA provided production support for Derya Akay’s solo exhibition (www.saha.org.tr).
Robert Moody’s photographs will also be on display at the Art Gallery for the occasion of Jan Zwicky’s reading.
May 17 is also the last evening the public can see an evolving exhibition by artist Catherine Martha Holmes, in the Satellite Cases in the Gallery lobby. Holmes has created daily Stone Portrait paintings, so the exhibition grew as the days progressed.
