Reach Gallery celebrates 10th anniversary with Bacchanal fundraiser

Event on Sept. 15 features food, entertainment and more

The Reach is celebrating a decade of the arts, culture, and heritage with a fundraiser called “Bacchanal: Food. Wine. Revelry. Art.” on Saturday, Sept. 15.

The event starts at 6 p.m. at The Reach Gallery Museum, 32388 Veterans Way.

The Reach is pulling out all the stops to mark its 10th anniversary.

The evening begins with guests sipping cocktails, sampling canapes, and mingling with the artists from Ramble, a public art initiative hosted by The Reach this summer that involved hundreds of community participants.

Entertainment is provided by singer-songwriter duo Coalmont and folk-rocker Ben Cottrill.

Then guests will take their place at a long-table dinner of Roasted Maple Hill Farms Chicken and seared and roasted Canadian strip loin with all the trimmings catered by Restaurant 62 chefs Jeff Massey and Matthew Nichols.

Throughout the evening guests will be invited to bid in a curated silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind treasures, creative-living packages, and original works of art.

The anniversary bash also marks the kickoff of a unique campaign, 100 Days of The Reach. Guests will get close up and personal with Abbotsford’s history and be treated to a behind-the-scenes tours.

“Bacchus was the god of wine, agriculture, and revelry, and we’ve planned a party with the hopes our guests will indulge in all of the finer things that Abbotsford has to offer,” said Laura Schneider, executive director of The Reach.

She said that in its first 10 years, The Reach has welcomed almost 250,000 visitors to a wide range of exhibitions, events, and programs.

Tickets to Bacchanal are available only in advance online at thereach.ca or by calling 604-864-8087.
