The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford (32388 Veterans Way) hosts two free public events this month that connect to its current exhibitions.
The first is a panel discussion on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Art, the Environment and Wellness features scholar and curator Beth Carruthers facilitating a conversation among exhibiting artists Ruth Beer and Judith Currelly, as well as scholar/artist Sandra Semchuck and Fraser Valley environmentalist John Vissers.
The panelists will engage in a discussion about how the arts and artists can help nurture healthy and sustainable communities.
The second event takes place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m., when the public is invited to participate in an embodied mapping of the Trans-Mountain pipeline on Sumas Mountain with guide John Vissers, president of the Fraser Valley Conservancy.
Participants will walk a two-kilometre portion of the pipeline and trace the places and elements of the regional eco-system that it impacts and engage in a discussion about what the pipeline means to our community.
Participants are asked to meet at The Reach at 1 p.m. to convoy to Sumas Mountain.
