One of the most successful female recording artists in history, Reba McEntire, is returning to the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) on Thursday, Oct. 10.
McEntire, who has sold more than 56 million albums worldwide and is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, will be joined by Canadian country music singer Gord Bamford.
McEntire last played the AESC to a sold-out show in March 2010.
“Reba McEntire will be a fantastic show to help kick off our fall entertainment lineup,” said Jason Blumenfeld, AESC general manager. “Abbotsford packed the arena the last time she was here and I am excited to see the energy in the building.”
McEntire has won 15 American Music Awards, 13 ACM Awards, nine People’s Choice Awards, seven CMA Awards, two Grammy Awards, an ACM Career Achievement Honour, and is one of only four entertainers in history to receive the National Artistic Achievement Award from the U.S. Congress.
Her reign of number 1 hits spans four decades, and Billboard, Country Aircheck and Mediabase recognized her as the biggest female hitmaker in country music history.
McEntire earned her 64th top 10 hit and her 35th number 1 with Turn On The Radio, from her most recent album, All The Women I Am.
During her last tour – All The Women I Am – both Pollstar and Billboard’s Boxscore named Reba the number 1 female country touring artist, selling a combined total of over nine million tickets.
McEntire is also an acclaimed actress with 11 movie credits to her name, including Tremors, North, and The Little Rascals.
In 2001, she made her Broadway debut in Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun which the New York Times said was “without qualification the best performance by an actress in a musical comedy this season.”
That same year, she also starred in the sitcom Reba, which ran for six seasons on the WB Television Network. In fall 2012, she returned to television with the new sitcom Malibu Country.
The Australian-born and Alberta-raised Gord Bamford – signed by Sony Music Entertainment and Ole – has been making country music a priority for the past 16 years.
The Canadian country star’s highly anticipated major label debut Is it Friday Yet? was released on March 6, 2012.
