Recording artist Rhayne is offering a free singing class in Fort Langley on Tuesday, April 10.
Taking place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the hall at the Parish of St. George, 9160 Church St., Rhayne will teach safe and effective professional vocal warm ups and singing techniques to help you sing your best. Beginners are welcome.
“Since I started teaching singing classes in Fort Langley, I have gathered a great group of friendly people, who enjoy singing together,” Rhayne said in a press release.
“We would like to invite more people to join our adult singing class, who have passion for singing, and enjoy singing songs from genres such as blues, classics, pop, soft rock, R&B, jazz, musical theatre and more.”
Rhayne, who worked as a nurse before pursuing music professionally, says there are many health benefits from singing.
“Interestingly, there is new research that shows when people sing together it can help them bond more easily, and can help reduce feelings of isolation,” she said. “As well, the happy hormone called serotonin is released when we sing, which is great, as serotonin can increase our sense of well-being. Tests have shown that singing can lower the level of the stress hormone called cortisol, which can benefit our over-all health in so many ways.”
Although this class is free, registration is required. Go to https://www.rhayne.com/freeclass to sign up. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water to the session. Lyrics will be supplied.
On the following Tuesday, at the same time and location, a six-week registered session will begin, from April 17 to May 22. For more information, visit https://www.rhayne.com/contact.
