Looking for somewhere special to take your mother this Mother’s Day? Why not bring her down to the grand opening of the Reedman Art Gallery.
May 10 and 11 will mark the opening of the Reedman Gallery in the Blind Bay Hall, and its very first display will be featuring an exhibition of works by the Sorrento 7.
A generous donation to the hall was given by Diane Reedman from the estate of her aunt, Marjorie May (nee Reedman). The hall board then made the decision to move forward with some of the necessary improvements required on the lower level.
These improvements allowed them to create a gallery space for the use of artists and artisans in and around the Shuswap area.
Lighting units, designed specifically for the purpose of effectively displaying artwork, have been installed along with a number of other features.
Don’t worry about missing an exhibit at the Shuswap’s newest gallery, as a grant-in-aid, spearheaded by former CSRD director Ted Bacigalupo, allowed for the installation of a new lighted sign at the front of the property, which will keep passers-by informed if there is an event scheduled.
Fees for the rental of the gallery have been intentionally kept affordable in order to promote its regular use.
It is hoped that the Reedman Gallery will become a regular gathering place where the community can view creative works by artists, both local and beyond.
Residents in the area as well as those who may be passing by are invited to join in the celebration and stop in for the grand opening.
Mark your calendar to attend the opening on May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., or May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
