Online registrations are now open for the 2019 Penticton Kiwanis Music, Dance and Speech Arts Festival, running March 1 to April 28.
Registration for the event will close at midnight on Jan. 21, 2019. Following the competitions will be a Gala Highlights Concert on April 27 at Cleland Theatre featuring winners from the festival.
New this year, performers can compete for a $300 tri-discipline scholarship open to all festival ages. Applicants must register in three or more solo entry disciplines to qualify, including: classical/modern dance, stage dance, classical voice, musical theatre, pianoforte, speech arts, instrumental/strings.
The following schedule and location for each category has been set:
Choral – March 1 at the Penticton United Church, ajudicator will be Alexandra Babbel
Classical Voice – March 1 and 2 at the penticton United Church, ajudicator will be Alexandra Babbel
Junior Piano – March 6, 7 and 8 at the Shatford Centre, ajudicator will be Catherine Bundt
Senior Piano – March 9, 10 and 11 at St. Saviour’s Church, ajudicator will be Catherine Bundt
Instrumental/Strings/Classical Guitar – Mar. 9 & 10 at the Penticton Alliance Church, ajudicator will be Maria Medlow
Musical Theatre – April 5 and 6 at the Penticton United Church, ajudicator will be Dolores Scott
Speech Arts – April 11 and 12 at the Leir House Lounge, ajudicator will be Nitasha Rajoo
Dance – April 14 to 23 at the Cleland Community Theatre, ajudicators will be Suzanne Oullette, Ashley Sweet and Clayton Scott
Solo winners of the Penticton Festival will continue to the Performing Arts B.C. Provincial Festival in Chilliwack from May 29 to June 2, 2019. Winning students will also take part in ajudicated competitions, master classses, workshops and concerts.
