Rent, School Edition at Kelowna Actors Studio

KAS Performance Troupe presents the Pulitzer and Tony award-winning rock operetta this weekend only.

Kelowna Actors Studio’s Performance Troupe presents Rent School Edition, a Pulitzer and Tony award-winning rock operetta based on Puccini’s opera, La bohéme.

Artistic director Randy Leslie and music director Norene Morrow lead the award-winning company presenting this cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Director Randy Leslie brings his unique vision to this story that follows the lives of young artists and professionals in New York as they struggle to survive through financial hardships, relationships and the tragedies associated with the HIV/AIDS epidemic that plagues many in the group.

“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the many talented and aspiring young adults with the maturity and intelligence to deal with the array of challenging problems in our modern world,” Leslie said. “We hope that our performance of Rent School Edition can, in some small way, make a big difference in our community.”

Following her musical direction of Les Miserables School Edition, Norene Morrow brings her considerable talents to this premier high school company’s production.

Rent School Edition runs nightly until Saturday April 27 at 7 p.m. with one matinee Saturday April 6, at 1 p.m.

Performances are at Kelowna Actors Studio, 1379 Ellis St., Kelowna.  Tickets are $15 plus taxes from www.KelownaActorsStudio.com (education page) or at the door beginning 30 minutes before the show.
