Retro outfits, glam rock hair and iconic music will once again come to Sun Peaks for the Third Annual Retro Concert Weekend, Aug. 17-19.
A free event, this summer’s festival features a brand new line up of some of Canada’s best known tribute bands paying respect to some of the greatest bands of all time including The Beatles, Neil Young, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and ABBA.
“This summer, all the bands are new to the festival other than the Led Zeppelin Show,” said Janice Nankivell, Tourism Sun Peaks events manager. “They had all heard of Retro Concert Weekend and are excited to perform at Sun Peaks.”
Taking place outdoors in the centre of Sun Peaks’ alpine village, concert goers can gaze onto the green mountainsides and take in the unique ambiance while listening to their favourite songs performed live. The festival has fast become a locals’ favourite, well known for producing an amazing atmosphere great for date nights, family vacations or a fun weekend with friends.
Attendance for last year’s Retro Concert Weekend doubled from the previous year and organizers are expecting the festival to continue to grow.
“Last year we had over 1,000 people attend and we expect even more this year,” said Nankivell.
