Revelstoke Theatre Company hosting special screening of Hamlet

The Revelstoke Theatre Company is hosting a special screening of Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, by the National Theatre Live.

The Revelstoke Theatre Company is hosting a special screening of Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, by the National Theatre Live.

RTC will be hosting two screenings of the British production to celebrate the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s classic play.

For those looking to get actively involved in learning about the play, the theatre company is hosting a brunch and interactive presentation with professional director Amy Baskin. Baskin will provide a general overview of Shakespeare’s works and Hamlet in particular. Baskin studied at the Central London School for Speech & Drama and has many years of experience as a theatre professional. She has been the adjudicator for the Kootenay-Okanagan Zone Theatre Festival.

Her presentation will be followed by a screening of the play. The brunch begins at 11 a.m. and tickets are $25.

For those who just want to watch the performance, the theatre company is hosting a second showing at the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15.

You can buy tickets for the shows at the Revelstoke Credit Union, through the RTC website, or at the door. Tickets for the brunch are limited and must be purchased in advance by Thursday, Apr. 21.
