The Rhythm on the Rock Music Festival (ROTR) has added Current Swell, Animal Nation and Kytami to its roster.
The second annual festival will be held Sept. 8 and 9 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds in Courtenay.
Other performers include the Funkee Wadd (Kyle Waddington), Maurice, Cameron Gunn, DJ em.ash and DJ Skian
Rhythm on the Rock is the passion project of producer, Jessie Lightburn. The festival exists to showcase up-and-coming local musical talent while promoting the best of the West Coast and bringing a community together for a weekend of passion, education and inspiration.
In addition to supporting up-and-coming talent, ROTR will have a craft and artisans market, healing arts area, kids zone, great food and fun throughout the day by local organizations and businesses.
ROTR also partners to raise funds for three local non-profit organizations — Kid Sport, the Comox Valley Child Development Association and Sew Sisters Society Artists Guild. In 2011, Rhythm on the Rock and its sponsors and attendees raised more than $350 for the Comox Valley Boys and Girls Club.
ROTR also provided tents and booth space to more than 10 local non-profit organizations and gave out complimentary festival passes to low-income youth.
