Rick Mercer brings his Canadian rant to Sidney in April

Beloved TV comic will touch on everything Canada: past, present and future in Winspear Centre talk

CBC comedy giant Rick Mercer brings his sharp wit and love for his country to the Mary Winspear Centre’s Bodine Hall on April 18 as part of the 2019 Winspear Speaker Series.

Mercer, who wound up a 14-year run as host of the Rick Mercer Report on Canada’s network, offers up a keynote address that will make you appreciate, as never before, this unique nation we all call home. He connects us all to the past, evaluates our present and looks forward, hopefully, into Canada’s future.

Having travelled the length of the country to meet its people, learn what they do to have fun and poke fun at himself along the way, Mercer knows Canada better than almost anyone. His experiences and keen eye for news items making people stand up and take notice gave him plenty of fodder for his weekly Rick’s Rant segment. Whether prodding at our institutions, celebrating our unsung heroes or illuminating everything wonderful and weird about our country, Mercer is a galvanizing speaker.
