There are more than 40 students involved in this year’s production, and students take part in every aspect of the show.
The students comprise the cast, backstage crew, and lighting and sound crew. In addition, the student pit band will play live during each performance.
The Sound of Music is a well-known classic that tells the story of Maria, a young postulant who is sent to work as a governess for the Von Trapp family’s seven children. Maria brings life and music back into the Von Trapp household, and ultimately falls in love with Captain Von Trapp.
After Austria is annexed by Germany, the family decides they must flee their home after their performance at the Kaltzberg music festival, with help from the nuns at the Abbey.
The role of the high-spirited Maria is played by Claire Cruson, with Owen Adachi as the stern Captain Von Trapp.
Rylea Clark brings charm and energy to the role of Liesl, while Amanda de Oliveira Jimenez embodies the calm dignity of the Mother Abbess.
Tickets to the family-friendly production are $10, and are available at the school office and at the door.
